Interview with April Wood

Today, we're welcoming April Wood, author of OUTSIDE THE MISTS OF TIME. Before we get started with the interview, let's take a look at the blurb for the book...

Danger, Love, Betrayal Ehblin thought she was just a normal girl with normal dreams. But her life was about to change—drastically. After her mother’s death, she is transported to another world and a strange, new life. Her clan has a secret, one that has been kept from her for too long. And now all is about to be revealed. Her new world exists beneath the mists and Ebbie’s new life would really begin. For sixty years she plays the role of dutiful daughter, until her world starts spinning out of control. One look from a strange man in the market is all it takes to start her down a path that has no return. Egan is her match, her soul mate. But he comes with emotional baggage that contains a frightening truth that will shake her beliefs to the core. Through twists and turns she must find her way out of the labyrinth of lies and betrayal that await her. Not until she finds the truth can she find herself again, or allow herself to love the one man who hold her future in his hands.

Outside the Mists of Time is available on Amazon

Tricia: Hi April. Thanks for stopping by. Can you please tell us a little about yourself?

April: I’m 38 years old, married, disabled, a veteran, and a step mom. I have three wonderfully annoying children I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Tricia: When did you begin writing?

April: I started writing when I was 12. It began with a love of poetry. I have had several published and won a silver quill when I was 18. I have toyed with the idea of writing a book for about 13 years now. I would start them and never finish. Three years ago I started Outside the Mists of Time and couldn’t stop until I had completed it.

Tricia: Can you tell us about Outside the Mists of Time

April: It is the story of young woman named Ebhlin. Her name is pronounced Ee bah lin. She is a member of a gifted a clan. She loses her mother at the tender age of nine. Her entire world changes as her mother bestows her with a parting gift. She gives her all her power. The clan is now forced to relocate to stop others from being burned alive. In this new realm her life is so different. She becomes the woman her mother knew she would be. The story follows her life but leaves you wanting more with a cliffhanger ending. There will be a book 2. It is titled Beyond the Mists of Time. I am hoping it will be published around Christmas.

Tricia: Tell us about your favorite and least-favorite characters in this book.

April: Naturally I love Ebbie. She’s a strong female lead. Beda is right up there too. Randall is the protagonist, but I can’t hate him. He’s flawed, but loveable. Josiah is my least favorite character. He’s arrogant for no reason.

Tricia: I understand you co-authored this book. Tell us about Kendra and how you two decided to collaborate on this novel.

April: Kendra and I have been friends for over twenty years. We grew up next door to each other. I started writing the book and called her every day for advice. She helped me streamline the ideas and even wrote some of the passages. I couldn’t have finished it without her.

Tricia: What was the most challenging aspect of writing your book?

April: Honestly it was the distance between us. Kendra lives in Missouri and I live in Maine.

Tricia: Which authors have inspired your writing?

April: Erica Stevens, Kendall Grey, E.E. Cummings, J.M. Jeffries, E.L. James, Christopher Pike, Elizabeth C St.John, Micki Fredericks, and Mia Natal.

Tricia: What projects are you currently working on?

April: I have an erotic vampire trilogy coming out next spring. It is called The Enticing Series. Enticing, Endless, and Tempestuous are the titles of the individual books. This was a departure for me from Outside. These books are far more adult and very erotic. I just started a new vampire book which I am hoping will lead to another series.

Tricia: What advice would you offer to new or aspiring authors?

April: Never give up. Don’t let other people determine the direction your life is going to take. It’s in your hands. Take your story and make it the best it can be.

Tricia: Thank you, April, for speaking with us today.
