Book Review: Kiss of Fire
I'm super, mega-excited to be part of the Reading Away the Days Blog Tour for Kiss of Fire by Rececca Ethingon. This book was truly a pleasure to read and I can't wait to share my review! But, first, let's have a look at the blurb.
Joclyn Despain has been marred by a brand on her skin. She doesn't know why it appeared on her neck, but she doesn't want anyone to see it, including her best friend Ryland, who knows everything else about her.
The scar is the reason she hides herself behind baggy clothes, and won't let the idea of kissing Ryland enter her mind, no matter how much she wants to.
The scar is the reason she is being hunted.
If only she knew that she was.
If only she had known that the cursed stone her estranged father sent for her 16th birthday would trigger a change in her.
Now, she is being stalked by a tall blonde man, and is miraculously throwing her high school bully ten feet in the air. Joclyn attempts to find some answers and the courage to follow her heart. When Ryland finds her scar; only he knows what it means, and who will kill her because of it.

My Review: I honestly don't know if I can write a review that will do this book justice, but I'm going to try. From the very first page, to the very last, I was in love. By the halfway point, I was a fan. I ever popped over to the authors website to see if there were more books in the series. There are!
Joclyn's a girl with a secret. She hides the brand on her neck from everyone, including her best friend, Ryland. Using oversized clothing and her long, black hair to protect her secret, she thinks she can protect her secret indefinitely. Until her new friend, Wyn, discovers it. Then things get weird. She's being stalked, exhibits odd powers, and receives a bizarre letter from her estranged father. But, none of these strange events can prepare her for what happens when Ryland finds her scar. Suddenly, Joclyn is injured, on the run, desperate to save the person she loves most in the world.
The relationship between Joclyn and Ryland is sweet, but it's Ilyan who intrigues me. There's so much to love about Ilyan, he's hands-down my favorite character in this book. And, if the series goes the way I suspect and there's a glorious love-triangle, I'll be the first person to sport a Team Ilyan t-shirt.
This wonderful, unique, amazing book is not without flaws. Editing could have been a little better. There were several errors I spotted, but fortunately they did not prevent me from enjoying the story. I loved it so much, in fact, that I HAVE to give a five and would probably give it more if possible. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
