Interview with Sharnel Williams

Today's guest is Sharnel Williams, author of What Do a Mother Do? The Shakil Williams Story.

Tricia: Hello, Sharnel. Thank you for joining us today. Please tell us a little about yourself.

Sharnel: My name is Sharnel Williams, born and raised in Newark, NJ. I'm a Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Author. Started writhing back in 2006.

Tricia: Can you tell us about your book? 

Sharnel: The name of my book is What Do A Mother Do? The Shakil Williams Story. It's on paperback, you can also download it. Only @ online stores. My book is a true and inspirational story. It's based my son battling Leukemia, unfortunately he passes away at the age of 12.

Tricia: What was the most challenging aspect of writing your novel? 

Sharnel: The most challenging aspect was reliving it all over again.

Tricia: What message are you trying to get across to your readers by sharing this book?

Sharnel:  That you are not alone, and keep God first.

Tricia: Has anyone who has had a similar experience contacted you after reading your book? Did your book help them with their own grief? 

Sharnel: I had mothers that reached out to me, who had also lost their child. I had mothers that reached out to me , who never lost a child and can't imagine going through this. 

Tricia: Do you have plans to write another book? If so, can you tell us about it? 

Sharnel: Yes! Matter of fact, the mother of a son who also passed away. He had a different type of caner. Now, we are working together with another author on a anthology. Will be out soon. Plus, I have another book I'm working, can't give you details.

Tricia: I understand you have a blogtalk radio program. Can you tell us about your show? 

Sharnel: My blogtalkradio show; I started out first as a support group for mothers online. Now, It's to support authors. Everyone has a story to tell, So, I let them come on my show and tell it. And also to promote their books. Anyone can come on and tell a positive story, that can help others. 

Tricia: What advice do you have for others who wish to write their own story?

Sharnel: Stop saying, I thought about, or always wanted to write a book. Just do it! The longer you are thinking about it, the longer you will prolong it. 

Tricia: What other projects are you currently working on?

Sharnel: I'm starting my own non-profit organization to help families with childhood cancer.
