Tricia: Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Kevin: I am Kevin Solomon Missal. I am 16 years old. I am in 12th grade. I love writing and reading books. I like fantasy as genre. I act in school plays and win prizes.

Tricia: When did you begin writing?

Kevin: At 11 years of age. I wrote one page in my register.

Tricia: Describe your writing process. Do you plot or write by the seat of your pants? When and where do you write?

Kevin: I write in my room. I listen to Jim Morrison or David Bowie sometimes. I write when I am bored or angry or filled with emotions that I am not able to contain in my vessel. I make my story and plot, while walking here and there for almost two-three hours. I do not aim for how many pages or words I’ll write. I just write till I get tired.

Tricia: Can you tell us about your most recent release?

Kevin: “UNLOCKED” my second book is based on Christian mythology that deals with Caspar Socrates who is trying to rid off the demons from Earth as well as the demons who are within him. The novel features Lucifer Morningstar, Archangel Michael and most Biblical characters. It all takes place in an urban setting.

Tricia: How did you get the idea for the book?

Kevin: I was just sitting and thinking that Christian Mythology was cool and needs to be read by more people. No one tries it very much, except for few authors and I thought it would be awesome if I show a twist to the characters.

Tricia: If you could recommend just one of your books to my readers, which book would you choose?

Kevin: My second book, Unlocked.

Tricia: Of all your characters, which one is your favorite? Why?

Kevin: Caspar Socrates is my favorite as he is dark, complex, and sarcastic, masking his true emotions so people couldn’t know who he is or what he is.

Tricia: What was the most challenging aspect of writing your book?

Kevin: I think that an entire process of writing a book is a challenge. It’s not the parts. It’s the entire thing

Tricia: What would you like to tell us about your book or your writing that someone wouldn’t discover during a casual review of your blurb or website?

Kevin: I give a philosophical touch to my book that has a very subtle meaning.

Tricia: What is your primary goal as an author?

Kevin: To let my writing reach to public is my goal. To let them enjoy what they read.

Tricia: Which authors have inspired your writing?

Kevin: Charles Dickens, Cassandra Clare.

Tricia: What projects are you currently working on?

Kevin: It’s on Hindu Mythology. It’s something different.

Tricia: What advice would you offer to new or aspiring authors?

Kevin: Write what you want to write. Don’t let people or society limit your thoughts. Just write what you think and get ready for heavy criticisms.

Excerpt from UNLOCKED

Caspar Socrates was going to die soon if he didn’t do something about it. His face had gone chalk white and his bronze eyes were now pale. He bit his scarred lips and pressed against the lower vertebro-sternal rib where a long gash oozed blood; thick, fleshy, and dark.

Poison . . . That was what the knife had been dipped into before it pierced his diaphragm, searing bones and flesh.

I am poisoned, he thought.

Shock and fright eluded him. A profound numbness was now present. The numb truth that life was leaving the mortal confines of his body.

He shrugged out of his trench coat and slid his t-shirt over his head, revealing his bare chest. The wound was threaded and bloody. The gash wasn’t what caught his attention. He stared at the long, spinning blue lines spiraling across his chest. They curved upward like a ferocious venomous river toward his throat. The poison was infecting each and every cell.

Antidote? He had none. Nor did he have any idea as to what to do.

Except . . . Except . . . His eyes narrowed as he lost himself in thought. Yes! Yes!
