Riverstar Blog Tour and Book Review

Today, I'm thrilled to be part of the blog tour for Riverstar by Tess Thompson. To visit the other stops along the tour, please visit CLP blog tours.

After ending a dysfunctional affair with a powerful movie producer, feisty Hollywood makeup artist Bella Webber finds herself back in the quaint Oregon town of River Valley, the location of a famous director’s latest film. Despite trying to distract herself with work, Bella is unnerved by the proximity of Benjamin Fleck – a man she fell instantly in love with during a chance encounter at her brother’s home. Unfortunately, he sees her as nothing more than a heartbreak waiting to happen.

When an actress is found murdered after she’s seen leaving the restaurant Riversong with Ben, he is accused of the crime and arrested. Convinced of his innocence, the River Valley friends band together to find the real killer, and Bella must face her biggest fear to ensure the truth is revealed.

Romantic, suspenseful, and engaging, bestselling author Tess Thompson’s third novel in the River Valley Collection delivers another tribute to the power of community and the bonds of friendship.

My Review: As a makeup artist to the stars, Bella Webber finds herself in River Valley, the site of a much-anticipated film. But River Valley is more than just a movie location--it's where Bella's brother lives and a town where Bella feels a strong connection. It's also the place where Bella fell in love with Ben, a man who is afraid to love her. Bella and Ben try to work through their differences, but when an actress is murdered and Ben is accused of the crime, their blossoming relationship begins to crumble under the strain. Can Bella find the real killer? Or, will Bella and Ben be pulled apart for good?

River Valley is a town to fall in love with--the breathtaking scenery the author so skillfully portrays and the loyal, kindhearted townspeople combine to create the perfect backdrop for the story. I connected with Bella almost immediately, but fell in love with the secondary characters as well. Not all the secondary character were endearing, mind you--Bella's sleezy ex, a crooked cop, and a conniving man with a connection to a neighboring town all fall under suspicion for the vicious crime.

All in all, this is a well-written story that lovers of romance and light mysteries will enjoy.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
