Interview with Carrie Anne Ward

Today's guest is Carrie Anne Ward, author of A Taylor Made Student...

A tutor that desperately wants to teach and a student that eagerly wants to learn. Off into the shadows she follows...

After 2 years of running from her brutal past, Kiera Fox is now ready to start her life over. When she decides to finish her degree at the Essex University, the last thing she was expecting was to meet the handsome and intimidating Taylor Holloway.

A brief encounter in the court yard ignites a searing desire inside of Kiera which she longs to act upon. When she takes that plunge she is surprised to learn that Taylor is her Art tutor.

Giving in to the overwhelming longing for one another, Kiera embarks on a dark journey of submission to Taylor, guiding her into a world beyond just sex. He teachers her about dominance and submission, control and discipline, pain and pleasure, but this path is a little too familiar for Kiera. Bringing up too many raw memories she’s isn’t quite ready to face, but she can no longer run as her past has now found her.

Whilst struggling to come to terms with her past, a new threat is boiling in the background. Dragging up old war wounds and dangerous secrets, Kiera soon learns she isn’t the only one hiding secrets. Although the threats warn about revealing the affair, Kiera feels it’s not just about exposing them, this is personal.

Can their relationship remain in the shadows along with their secrets? And how far will Taylor push Kiera in surrendering her will to his dark world, without breaking her?

Q: Welcome! Can you tell us a little about yourself?

A: I grew up in the seaside resort Clacton on sea in Essex, England, with my mum and two brothers until I was 16 years old, and then moved with my mother to Colchester (where I still lives to this day) to go on to study Art and Design at the Colchester institute. However, after recovering from the illness glandular fever, which meant I couldn’t finish her degree, I went out into the world to become a working class citizen and a glamour model on the side.

For many years I would write stories in my spare time, mostly horrors or supernatural, but never felt the passion to take it further. My love for literature at school didn’t, at that point, over take my love of Art, but as I grew older my passion in writing surpass any other desire I ever had.

When BDSM erotic books took the world by storm, and what with me having experience in this area, being a real life submissive (well switch technically) I finally found the genre in which I want to write about. Not to mention my love for erotica. Now at the age of 33 I have released my first erotic book and I’m currently writing the second book in The Taylor Made Series, A Taylor Made Master.

Q: When did you begin writing?

A: I’m not sure exactly when I started writing. When I was a kid I would write and draw stories for fun, as I got older I started to write more detailed stories, mostly in the horror genre, but I never really got to finish the stories. I stop for quite some time as life got in the way, but in the last couple of years my passion has found its way back to the surface once more, and now I would never give it up.

Q: Can you tell us about your most recent release?

A: A Taylor Made Student is an erotic story about a young girl called Kiera having a kinky affair with her art tutor. The story tells you about her journey of submission to Taylor and the life she experiences with Taylor isn’t as simple and easy as she thought. Someone is out to get them and ruin their lives and careers, bringing dark secrets to light and putting a strain on their relationship.

Q: How did you get the idea for the book?

A: Well I’ve always had a fantasy about having an affair with a sexy older tutor. Also after reading 50 shades and being a real life submissive, I wanted to write a story about what it is really like to be a sub, and not what 50 shades tells you. It’s not a true reflection of what we go through and the fun we have. I also wanted to show people that BDSM is not violent and not as black and white as people think it is. It’s not always about pain and pleasure; sometimes it’s simply about control. Believe it or not, not all submissive’s like pain. Just like not all Dom’s like inflicting it.

Q: Of all your characters, which one is your favorite? Why?

A: I think possibly Taylor, because he is so goddamn sexy that I would rip my right arm off for him, plus he is my ideal man in every sense. His fun and very demanding and I love that, but at the same time he is incredibly frustration, he f**ks with you mind, but in a good way. He keeps your guessing and wanting more, and boy does he know how to get your bed rocking.

Q: What was the most challenging aspect of writing your book?

A: I think the most challenging part would be the editing. I am a self published author so I don’t have the money to pay for an editor. I do have two beta readers (proof readers) and they are brilliant, but even they miss the errors sometimes. I must have edited my book at least 10 times myself and even now I find the odd little mistake. Hours upon hours of reading my story over and over until I felt it was right.

Q: What is your primary goal as an author?

A: To be honest I’m not quite sure, I think mostly just to get my book out there and share my fantasies with other people, and hope they love the stories just as much as I do. I would love for my book to be a massive hit, but not for money reason. Purely because I want fans. Crazy as that sounds I love to talk to the people who have read my book and find out what they see and feel when they read it. It’s a massive thrill.

Q: What projects are you currently working on?

A: I am currently working on the second book in the series called A Taylor Made Master, as this is a 3 part story, and I left the first book on a cliffhanger. I am hoping to get it out on the 31st march 2014 (hopefully). The first story is mostly about Kiera, but this one is about Taylor and the secrets he is hiding.

Q: What advice would you offer to new or aspiring authors?

A: There is one thing I always say to aspiring authors, and that is… don’t give up. It’s probably the best piece of advice I could give to anyone. Too many people give up, I almost did, but I am so glad I didn’t. I have never been so proud of myself. Its hard work I won’t lie, but then you don’t get anywhere in life if you don’t put in the time and effort. It will be worth it in the end.
