My Review: Alexa owns a small town diner. She's completely absorbed in working hard and keeping the past behind her. Unfortunately, the past keeps coming back to haunt her. A handsome customer makes himself at home in her diner, constantly showing up and asking her out. Even stranger, she keeps catching glimpses of her deceased father. Danger haunts her every step and Alex is forced to unravel the mysteries of the past.

This is a fun mystery with lots of clean romance. There were a few elements of surprise that I enjoyed, and the unraveling of Alexa's father's secret codes was very well done. Readers who appreciate romance that doesn't get too graphic will like this story. I didn't connect with the characters as much as I would have liked. In a mystery/thriller, it's often difficult for me to move so quickly from imminent danger to moments of intimacy. Cayman eventually grew on me, but I certainly had my suspicions early on. Despite my misgivings about the romance (and this is probably just personal preference), I enjoyed the book. The pacing is great in this book; it moves along quickly and is never boring. One of the best aspects of this book is Alexa's character development as she goes from being timid and meek, to a sharp-shooting take-no-nonsense woman who stands up for herself and demands answers. Overall, it's an engaging, entertaining novel that is worth the read.

My Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
