Interview with Patricia Asedegbega

Today's guest is Patricia Asedegbega, author of I Stand Corrected:

I am Rosario Domínguez González, heiress to one of the largest and oldest fortunes in Spain. My family is considered in both the most elite economic and social circles as one of the richest and most influential in Europe…

That was until the day when I sensed that someone was watching me; I opened one of my eyes and was just about to close it again when something caught my attention…

Rosario and Balou need each other for very different reasons… But for one of them, it is a matter of life and death.

Balou is taken away from his mother at a very tender age and sold to a pet shop where he waits impatiently for someone to claim him and take home a black and as he considers himself, an attractive British Shorthair cat. Just when he thinks this is going to be impossible and his bags are almost packed to go to the local animal shelter, he meets young and troubled Rosario who is really not looking for a pet.

It does not take him very long to realize that something is horribly wrong in her household and he takes it upon himself to protect the human he has come to love almost as much as he loves his food, his siestas and of course the time he spends outside chasing everything and anything that moves.

A Strange and endearing alliance is forged between them but he soon discovers that something is horribly wrong in Rosario’s household. Will he be able to save her?

The first in the mystery series of Rosario and Balou.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I am a biologist turned novelist and I live in Spain. I have series both in English and Spanish and my favourite genre in mystery/suspense.

When did you begin writing?

I began writing professionally about four years ago. My first book was a collection of true cat stories to help out a at shelter.

Can you tell us about your most recent release?

Last year I released three books. Two of them were my first books in English and one in Spanish.

How did you get the idea for I Stand Corrected?

The book "I stand corrected" is a novel written from two different perspectives; a cat and his mistress. I thought it would be interesting to develop a storyline from such points of view.

Of all your characters, which one is your favorite? Why?

I have so many character, it is difficult to choose but I guess from my Spanish series, it would be Mama Peace, she has a lot of character and a is a living testimony that at sixty, sometimes, life just begins. From my English series, it would be Balou, he is stubborn and set in his ways, sometimes he doesn´t care what others think but he defends the people he lets into his inner circle with everything he has.

What was the most challenging aspect of writing your book?

The writing part is easy, what´s difficult is everything that follows.

What is your primary goal as an author?

I´d like to get my work out there and have my public. For people to enjoy my work.

What projects are you currently working on?

I am working on a stand alone novel that will be translated to Spanish and later on will start on the sequel of "I stand corrected".

What advice would you offer to new or aspiring authors?

If it´s what you want to do and are passionate about it, then try until you succeed.
